Restaurante Cruz del Carmen is most useful as a post-hike Canarian stop near the laurel forest, not as a delicate dining destination. The better reviews are very specific: chicken soup after walking, ham croquettes with thin breading, grilled cheese with sweet glaze, papas bravas and pork chops.
There is a real service caveat. Two guest reports describe hostile or uncomfortable treatment toward English speakers, while others praise fast service and one of their best meals in Tenerife. That means the food can be rewarding, but the safest expectation is a local, sometimes brusque guachinche-style meal after Anaga or Cruz del Carmen, not polished hospitality.

By far the best meal we have had in Tenerife. Croquet as with a few bravas we're flavourful and the grilled cheese was nicely complemented by a sweet glaze. Our pork chops were huge, flavourful and perfectly cooked and the fish was again delicious, fresh and cooked to perfection. Even the vegetables and salad were above average. The pistachio cake and coffee were also much much better than we have found elsewhere. Service was friendly and polite. Highly recommended!

Chicken soup was very good - just very right after the hike. Ham croquetes were good, and with thin layer of breading. Service was super fast comparing to other places, waitresses are nice and friendly. We were a bit hesitant to drop into the only cafe in the area, but were not disappointed.

The food was good, once it arrived. The English menu is yellow, the Spanish is white. Is that important? Not really but there's an extremely high correlation between diners being served extremely poorly if they speak only English. I had to wait almost an hour to get my food. And that's no hyperbole. This was happening when everyone around me was getting served food left and right, no matter if they arrived before me or after me.
I have still put 3 stars overall because the food was actually good enough and I appreciate that I could finally get something to to eat here. I hope they improve their service.
sorry about the bad photos

We had 4 tapas which came one after the other. We would have liked it, if everything came at the same time. The grilled cheese was great. The peppers were okay. The spicy potatoes were squishy, not too spicy, and the croquettes were good, but the inside was a little bit uncooked

Hostile attitude toward English speakers from the male staff. Getting mad when asked about rhe menu in Wmglish, returni g to the table often to mock snd give instructions eg. how to sit just “because I say so”. Waited for coffes 20 min, got two caffe macchiato instead of a latte and a cappucino, medium-low experience. We canceled brunch, tracks were waiting. Toilets are ok as can be with a large flux of guests, no working wifi.
