Airport transfers in Tenerife: how to choose
Tenerife has two airports, and confusing them is the easiest way to ruin an otherwise simple transfer. Tenerife South (TFS) serves the southern resorts most directly; Tenerife North (TFN) is closer to La Laguna, Santa Cruz and much of the north. Buses and official airport taxis work well on many routes, while a pre-booked transfer earns its price when you have children, bulky luggage, a late arrival or accommodation far from a direct bus line.
- Send the operator the airport code — TFS or TFN — plus flight number and the full accommodation address. A hotel name alone can be ambiguous, especially among apartment complexes.
- A shared shuttle is cheaper but may wait for other flights and stop at several hotels. A private transfer costs more but should take your group directly to the address.
- Confirm whether the driver tracks delays, how long they wait after landing and where the meeting point is. Save the telephone or WhatsApp contact before the flight.
- Count luggage as carefully as passengers. Surfboards, bicycles, wheelchairs and several large cases may require a bigger vehicle even when everyone technically fits in a car.
- Request child restraints or an adapted vehicle when booking and receive confirmation in writing. Do not assume the correct equipment will be available on arrival.
- For an ordinary arrival, compare the transfer with the signed taxi rank and current TITSA timetable. Aena advises passengers to use the official terminal taxi rank rather than drivers offering rides elsewhere.

Which Tenerife airport do I need?
Check the ticket code. TFS is Tenerife South and is usually the more convenient airport for Costa Adeje, Los Cristianos and Las Americas. TFN is Tenerife North, near La Laguna and Santa Cruz and better placed for many northern stays.
Do I need to pre-book a transfer?
Not always. Official taxis and airport buses serve both terminals. Pre-booking is most useful for a late or complicated arrival, a large group, child seats, adapted transport, sports equipment or accommodation without a simple direct connection.
