The Tenerife guide we wanted to send to friends.
We are Anna and Mikhail. We have lived on the island for more than four years, falling in love with its coast roads, misty forests, small towns, morning swims, family cafes, and the quiet places people usually share only with friends. Our son Maxim was born here too, and Umka has joined us on countless island walks, so Tenerife became more than a place we love. It became part of our family story.

Why this exists
A guide built from lived days, not copied lists.
At first, KnowTenerife was just our own base of island notes: where to go when the south is too windy, which road feels calmer with kids, which village is worth a slow lunch, and which places still feel like Tenerife instead of a postcard version of it.
Then more people around us started sharing their own small discoveries. A viewpoint at the right hour. A tiny cafe that remembers regulars. A natural pool that is beautiful only when the sea is kind. A local walk that does not need hype, only a little care.
Tenerife also became the place where our son Maxim was born. That made the island deeply personal for us: not just somewhere to explore, but somewhere we want to understand, protect, and share with care. Umka, our small four-legged explorer, has inspected more walking paths and sunset stops with us than we can count.
We decided to turn that shared notebook into a public place where locals, long-term residents, businesses, and thoughtful travelers can help each other see the island better.
