About

Guachinche El Aguacatero de Doña Chana is a La Orotava guachinche with a real local feel: terrace tables under the avocado tree, Canarian dishes and prices that still feel fair. The most useful orders from reviews are papas Aguacatero with mojo picón, carne fiesta, fish churros, garbanzas, stuffed mushrooms, rabbit in Pedro Ximénez sauce and house wine.

It is a good choice for a casual north-island lunch, especially if you want something more personal than a standard roadside restaurant. Portions are not always as huge as in some guachinches and the chairs get a small complaint, but the food, terrace and friendly service carry the visit.

Commonly mentioned by visitors.

Papas Aguacatero with mojo picón, carne fiesta and rabbit in Pedro Ximénez sauce are the most useful dish signals.

The terrace under the avocado tree gives the guachinche a warm, local feel.

House wine, fair prices and friendly service make it a good north-island lunch stop.

Portions can feel smaller than in some guachinches, and the chairs are not especially comfortable.

Great service, delicious food & amazing atmosphere. On top of that reasonable prices. Highly recommended! I'm not a tourist, I live in Tenerife so you can treat this opinion seriously ;)

Fantastic little place, easy to find on Google Maps, great food, lovely staff. Good choice of typical Canarian local food and some unique to them. I definitely recommend the Papas Aguacatero, Carne Fiesta, Mojo and Solomillo Al Pedro Ximenez (come on a bed of mash potatoes and amazing salsa).

We had a superb meal here on a Friday evening in July 2025. It was the end of a very hot day and it was a pleasure to sit on the delightful terrace under the avocado tree. We were a group of 4 and although we live locally we had not spotted the place before. We were the first to arrive (it was pretty much full when we left) and we were greeted warmly and shown to a table of our choice. Drinks orders were immediately taken and brought, and helpfully a chalk board menu was left for us to read through. We ordered a selection of starters: fish churros (pieces of fish fried in batter), garbanzas (chickpea stew), stuffed mushrooms and the restaurant's special potato dish, small potatoes which are cooked, flattened and then fried and drizzled with sauce. We finished with two portions of the rabbit cooked in a delicious Sherry sauce with a dish of tasty potatoes.on the side, and had no room for dessert. The service was friendly, prompt without being hurried and everything was hot and tasty. 1½ litres of a crisp white wine, 2 bottles of sparkling water, and a little drink on the house to finish, all for 16€ per person which we thought well worth it. We shall go again!

Nice food and nice people! Good wine as well and what a beautiful avocado tree! The chairs were a bit tricky and not very comfortable, but we stayed only for 20 minutes. Overall nice experience! Their dog was super nice and lovely!

We visited El Aguacatero de Doña Chana and while the place is simple and pleasant, the portions felt a bit small for a guachinche. The overall experience was okay, but not memorable. The highlight for us was definitely the papas “aguacatero” – crispy, tasty and with a great “mojo picón”. However, the rest of the dishes didn’t really stand out. Everything was fine, but lacked that special touch or flavor you sometimes find in other guachinches. Personally, I don’t think I’ll be coming back.
