Volcano Surf School and Camp is a Playa de las Americas surf school with a simple public offer: two-hour surf lessons with theory, practice and all material included, private classes, softboard and hard-board rental, plus surf-camp packages with accommodation help, daily transfers and extra activities such as surfskate, yoga and seasonal snorkelling.
The good comments are very personal: guests mention small groups, Umberto and Israel’s teaching, flexible coaching, a quiet surf-house feel and daily pickups for lessons. There is also one serious negative comment from a surfer who says an instructor behaved aggressively during an unrelated free-surf session. Treat that as a caution to confirm current instructor, group size, schedule and communication before booking, not as a reason to ignore the many strong lesson experiences.

We’ve just spent 10 days over Christmas at the Volcano surf camp. The surf house was clean and cosy though a bit too far from the bars and restaurants. On the other hand one can see the stars from the coaches outside. Very beautiful 👌🏼 as for the surf lessons, they were pretty private, always small group, which is very convenient. Umberto gives a lot of useful tips to improve your surfing and also good tips for the places to go. The things to improve can be introducing the schedule of the day for the surfers, timing of the lessons and other activities. And more English speaking 😉 All the best! 🤗

My girlfriend and I had an excellent time at Volcano Surf Center. The instructor, Umberto, took really good care of us! He is an awesome teacher and a fantastic person. Umberto differentiates himself from other schools, having lessons with small groups and teaching everyone, from the basics to more advanced concepts. We learned a lot and we had a lot of fun! I also suggest the "Volcano SurfCamp" experience. The hostel is quiet and new. Among the others, Matteo is doing an excellent job in managing. As we didn't have a car, Umberto was picking us up every morning for the daily lesson and drop us back in the afternoon whenever we liked. In general, I could not recommend it more!!

An amazing school for learning to surf
Last year I did a camp in Portugal and there I definitely didn't learn as much as I did here.
Israel is an amazing teacher and we had a lot of fun during our lessons

Absolutely fantastic experience! I spent 10 days surfing here and enjoyed them to the fullest. Umberto and Israel are passionate surfers and you can feel it every minute. Their teaching style is very effective and they are super flexible and just in general very fun people to be around. I felt like joining a little family :) Highly recommended!

Was just out surfing on my own when one of the instructors got into an argument with me, got physical, and acted super aggressive. I later spoke with a few locals who knew exactly who I was talking about and told me this wasn’t the first time. Definitely not the kind of vibe you want from someone running a surf school. Luckily, there are plenty of better schools in the area.
The official site lists group surf lessons at 40 EUR, private lessons at 80 EUR/person and two-person private groups at 60 EUR/person.
Yes. The official site lists softboard rental for 10-15 EUR and hard-board rental at 15 EUR/day.
Most lesson comments are very positive, but one person reports aggressive behaviour during a free-surf encounter. Confirm current instructor, group size and communication before booking.
