Tapitas la Caleta

We have been looking forward to eating at Tapitas la Caleta since we discovered it on holiday last year and it certainly didn't disappoint! We ate here twice during our one week holiday... on our first visit we had ensaladilla, croquetas caseras and paella de mariscos. All were very tasty. Oh and the sangria is fantastic too. I have to say the thing I was most looking forward to eating again was the tarta de manzana... I think it might be the best apple pie I've ever eaten, it's just a shame I have to come so far to have it! When we returned for our second meal we had tapas of ensaladilla, croquetas caseras, calamares a la romana, gambas al ajillo, albondigas and chorizos en sidra. Again all were very nice, our favourites were the ensaladilla, calamares and chorizo. Naturally we had to finish again with tarta de manzana. Everyone who works here is so friendly and chatty, creating a lovely atmosphere for a wonderful dining experience. We will definitely be back in the future for more delicious meals.

Wonderful food and excellent service. By far the best octopus we have had our entire trip. Highly recommend. The fresh local fish was also awesome.

Rough Around the Edges, Ridiculously Good Food. This place doesn’t bother with polish, and honestly, it doesn’t need to. The setup is simple, a little rough, and clearly more interested in feeding you well than impressing you with décor. And feed you well it does — some of the best food I’ve had in Spain, full stop.

The highlights were unforgettable: deeply satisfying meatballs, dangerously moreish chicken wings, excellent tomato bread, and croquettes that disappear faster than they arrive. Also very good were the peppers and anchovies — straightforward, confident, and done right. The only miss for me was the chorizo, which somehow managed to be the least exciting thing on a table full of winners.

This is a place that lets the food do the talking, and it speaks loudly. Definitely worth a visit — just make sure you reserve a table. When we left, the place was absolutely packed, and for once, the crowd felt entirely justified.

Well-cooked food and kind service at Tapitas la Caleta!

We had a satisfying meal overall with the dishes we ordered: 🫑padron peppers - seasoned with rock salt which was a good pairing with the other dishes. 🥫meatballs - on the dry side and the sauce was okay 🍤 garlic prawns was a star dish and we enjoyed every bite of that. 🧄 garlic bread with tomatoes had flavours that complemented with the tomatoes well 🥔🙅‍♀️Canarian potatoes are NOT recommended here. It was the first we had on the island and thought badly of the traditional dish. It is much better elsewhere! The potatoes here tasted like normal potatoes, were not salted, and the sauces lacked aromatic flavour.

The servers were attentive despite the full house that night. We had made a reservation which is recommended if you plan to visit since the place is quite popular.

Decent prices (46€ for 2 pax with drinks), decent food and good service. If visiting, we do recommend the garlic prawns the most! (:

I’m convinced the 5-star reviewers were eating at a different restaurant—or perhaps they just have a high tolerance for disappointment. While the chorizo and meatballs were actually great, they were the only bright spots in a sea of mediocrity. The seafood was a disaster: the calamari was rubbery, the baby squid was "bitty" and frustrating to eat, and the five garlic prawns were surprisingly bland and mushy. To round out the texture issues, the garlic bread was so hard it could have been used to shim the wobbly table.To top it off, the chips we ordered never actually arrived. If you enjoy paying for a reputation rather than a meal, this is the spot for you. Otherwise, keep walking.
