Bodegón Tocuyo

This place doesn’t pretend to be anything it isn’t. The food is simple but great — for example fresh ham, cheese, and perfect tomatoes. The wine flows straight from the barrels like water, and the energy only goes up from there. Ask for Canarian coke, lime and ice tea, you will see what you get. ​With peanuts on every table and shells crunching underfoot, the atmosphere is authentic. Great service, no ego, just a brilliant time. Highly recommended for those who love it real.

Great tradition place where you can sample wines by type from the casks/barrels/cañas. And they have some interesting and classic raciones (tapas). The appearance creates a good atmosphere.

Disappointed with this place as it came so highly recommended, but the menu was very limited and we had no idea how much anything cost or really what we were ordering. Then when the food came, it was nothing special. We also ordered two Vermouths and yet we were given two of the draft lagers.

It saddens me to write this because it's the first time in my travels in Spain and the islands, that I've felt so unwelcomed. It bothers me since it was recommended by a friend, and every review seems to praise the place. The place is quite unique in decore, Unfortunately, we arrived and never felt welcome. We did get our drinks, but he never came back. So I went up and asked for a menu and was told only cold dishes, which is okay because we knew that since they dont have a kitchen, but he wrote down on a napkin the initials of what they have. Maybe the bartender/waiter had a bad day. Who knows what's the reason. So we only stayed for the 1 beer and 1 glass of vermouth ( which was very good).
