The classic Teide rock formations, easy to see from La Ruleta and far more rewarding on the 3.6 km circular trail around them.
You do not need a cable-car ticket or summit permit to get one of Teide’s strongest volcanic landscapes. From Mirador de La Ruleta, Roque Cinchado stands in front of the volcano; the full trail then passes twisted lava, La Cascada, La Catedral and the edge of Llano de Ucanca. The park’s official Trail 3 is a 3.6 km circuit, rated medium, with 167 m of elevation change and about two hours of walking. A steep climb comes near the end if you go anticlockwise. At more than 2,000 m there is little shade and the weather can turn quickly, so carry water, sun protection, proper shoes and a warm layer. If altitude, parking or time is against you, the viewpoint alone is still worth the stop.

Beautiful raw landscape area with several hiking trails. Depending the period of day it can be sunny and not too many shadow spots will be on the way, be prepared when you are doing the longer hikes. The area is stunning with a wide view of the Teide most of the time.

This is a must-see while in Tenerife. The entire island of Tenerife is incredibly beautiful, full of amazing viewpoints. On the road to the Roques de Garcia, you will find yourself stopping to enjoy amazing locations for some pictures and stunning views. I highly recommend visiting Roques de Garcia.
Let me tell you about our experience. First attempt to see Roques de Garcia. We set off around 1PM in no rush. Very nice drive to the location and lots to see. Additionally, there are dedicated stops and a few spots to park your car. Very good experience up until we got to the Roques. Unfortunately, we arrived quite late in the afternoon, and it was absolutely packed and impossible to park. Hundreds of people. We turned around and went back to the hotel.
Second attempt next morning. We set off before the sunrise! We did not stop anywhere and got to the spot around 6 am in the morning. Car park was empty plenty space to park. No one around. We had all the Roques de Garcia to ourselves. We have taken plenty of amazing pictures and got to enjoy gorgeous sunrise.
Ps. Grab a jacket. It will be cold early in the morning. Like 6 degrees cold.

I’ve been there in January and the weather was perfect for this trail. Very pleasant walk, beautiful views, the only challenging part was right at the end (I’ve started the trail going right). On the weekend it is hard to find a parking spot during the day.

The roques are an amazing sight. Well worth visiting. If you are reasonably fit it's definitely a good idea to do the walk (trail 3) around the roques. It will take between one or two hours depending on your fitness and how often you stop to take photos!
The hardest part of the experience is finding parking. That's the reason for my review being 4 star. There aren't enough spaces for the number of visitors and half of them are currently closed due to construction works. My best advice is to either arrive very early or be very patient and be prepared to park in a layby further away and walk to the roques. I'm surprised the national park authority isn't doing more to manage the access issue. At a similar site on Gran Canaria they have a park and ride bus service.
A Teide day needs pacing
Roques de García is often the place where a Teide day becomes real for first-time visitors. Give it enough time to look, walk and adjust to the altitude.
