Teide weather: mountain forecast by altitude

Coastal weather is not enough for a Teide trip. Compare the summit, Izaña and cable-car level, then check wind, precipitation and official warnings.

This page uses AEMET's dedicated Teide mountain bulletin—not a nearby coastal municipality. It is a forecast, not a live cable-car operating status.

What matters before you set off

01

Cable car

Wind can stop operations even under blue sky. Check the operator's live status separately before driving up.

02

Summit access

Use the 3,715 m value for the summit. It can feel far colder than the cable-car base, and permits do not guarantee suitable conditions.

03

Road and trail

Snow, ice, calima and strong wind can change access quickly. Recheck official notices on the morning of the trip.

Mountain weather changes quickly. This forecast helps with planning, but official closures, warnings and operator updates take priority.

Questions about Teide weather

Which Teide temperature should I use?

Use the cable-car base for the lower station area, Izaña for nearby high plateau conditions and the summit value for Pico del Teide. Altitude matters more than distance here.

Does good weather in Costa Adeje mean good weather on Teide?

No. The summit can be cold and windy while the coast is warm and calm. Always use a mountain forecast for a Teide visit.

Does this page show whether the cable car is open?

No. It shows the AEMET mountain forecast. Check the cable-car operator's live status and official park notices before departure.
