About

TopCar is useful if you want a Canary Islands rental brand with Tenerife South, Tenerife North and Costa Adeje offices, a broad fleet and airport-style opening hours. The card needs a clear caveat: Basic Cover can carry a serious deposit/excess, while Super Cover is the route to waive it.

Customer experiences range from smooth, good-value rentals to older cars, damaged vehicles or dispute handling that feels hard work, so this is not the no-thinking option. It can work well, but read the cover level before you choose the cheapest rate.

Useful before you go

Airport car pickup can save time, but only if the first day and hotel base are planned around it.

We pre-booked a car before our trip, and the whole experience was smooth and hassle-free from start to finish.

Upon arriving at the airport, we went straight to the kiosk to collect the car. The wait was very short, and the staff quickly finalised our registration. They clearly explained where to find the vehicle and provided straightforward instructions for returning the keys at the end of the rental period.

The service was efficient, friendly, and professional throughout. The car itself was in excellent condition - clean and comfortable.

Overall, Top Car offered great value for money and made the car hire process simple and stress-free. We were very happy with both the service and the vehicle, and would happily use them again on a future visit to Tenerife.

Excellent car rental service. No problem getting the car or returning it. We got Kia Stonic as prefered, the car was nice and clean. Tank half full and returned same. The price was great. We will certainly use TopCar next time.

Excellent car rental service! The car was clean, well-maintained, and exactly as described. The staff were friendly, professional, and very helpful throughout the whole process. Pickup and return were quick and hassle-free. Great prices and no hidden fees. I really appreciated the smooth communication and high level of customer service. I would definitely rent from this company again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable car rental.

I had a Fiat 500e. The car itself was nice and in good condition. We really liked its cute appearance, low running costs, and surprisingly decent acceleration.

There were a few minor issues, though. The charging cable we received was not compatible with any charger, which made charging the car a bit difficult at times. We usually managed somehow, but I would definitely recommend double-checking the charging cables before your trip.

The front seats and trunk were perfectly clean, while the rear seats could have been cleaned a bit better. The car was also set to Polish language when we picked it up, so it took us some time to switch everything back to English.

I’m still waiting for the deposit to be returned, but since we returned the car only two days ago, I believe it will be processed without any problems.

Overall, I would still recommend this car. It’s a modern and fun vehicle for a really good price, and aside from the charging cable issue, the other problems were easy to manage. I would also recommend the company itself. Good price and only small issues.

Updated: Deposit was returned without any problems.

We made a mistake going with this car rental. These guys are a joke, and the worst car rental experience I had.

We were given a completely bashed car covered in dents and scratches, and it was not clean inside. It had over 75,000 km on the clock, and the petrol tank was only 1/4 full.

Customer services were very poor. The car struggled on the hills, so I called them to replace the car. I was told they would check and call back. Never did.

At pick up, there were lots of guys in the office but no one wanted to help. Useless. At the drop off, no clear instructions and the lady was rude and arrogant.

The deposit - they actually charge money, as opposed to holding it - was returned about 4 weeks later. And that was after I chased them. The only way to get in touch is through the online bot - which was poorly operating.

What type of car works best for Tenerife?

A compact car is easiest for resort parking and narrow village streets. Choose an automatic, stronger engine, SUV or larger car only if you need comfort for Teide, Anaga, luggage or a full family group.

Is renting a car worth it in Tenerife?

Yes if you want Teide, Anaga, Masca, north-coast towns, hidden beaches or flexible weather backups. If you stay in one south resort and mostly use beaches, transfers and taxis may be simpler.
