About

Restaurante Mero Pancho Tajao is built around the big fish display, and the own-boat signal makes the seafood feel credible before you even order. Reviews point to seafood paella, octopus, shellfish, barracuda and large prawns, with family-style service helping guests choose from the counter.

This is the kind of Tajao place where lunch can stretch because the good seafood sells quickly and busy Sundays may involve a wait. Go with a little flexibility, ask what is still available, and do not over-order from the display before you know portion size.

Restaurante Mero Pancho Tajao is an absolute paradise for fish and seafood lovers – the best Spanish cuisine I’ve tried in this part of Tenerife. Everything here is ultra-fresh: from the rich seafood paella, through huge platters of fried and grilled fish, calamari and prawns, to perfectly tender octopus, clams, razor clams and delicate scallops served in the shell. Every dish looked exactly like in the photos – colourful, appetising and seasoned with true Spanish flair: good olive oil, garlic, fresh parsley, lemon.

On top of that, there is a generous counter full of local fish and shellfish – you can see that the kitchen works with produce that comes straight from the ocean.

I wholeheartedly recommend Restaurante Mero Pancho Tajao to all tourists who want to experience real, simple yet refined Spanish cuisine of the highest quality. It’s the perfect place for a long, lazy lunch by the sea – it’s worth coming to Tajao especially for this restaurant.

So glad we found this gem. They have their own fish boat. Everything is so fresh and delicious. By the time we are down, they sold out most the seafood already. If you can find it, try it!
