About

La Gaviota is a Tajao seafood restaurant where the fresh-fish display helps you choose before the kitchen cooks. Calamari, sardines, mussels and fish are the safer signals, and paella marinera can be excellent when the kitchen is on form.

The coastal view works especially well before sunset, and friendly service keeps the first-street location from feeling too touristy. Ask about portion size and price before ordering by weight; one review also mentions a long wait and an ordinary paella, so seafood from the display is the safer bet if you want consistency.

The fresh-fish display lets you choose seafood before it goes to the kitchen.

Calamari, sardines, mussels and fresh fish are safer signals than the simple setting suggests.

The Tajao coastal view works well before sunset.

Paella feedback is mixed, and it is worth confirming portion size and price before ordering by weight.

Very tasty and fresh seafood and fish: octopus and calamari, also all kind of fish and shells. Friendly staff. Better to come befora the rush of the evevning, around 17.00 for dinner, in winter you can stroll at sunset around playa de Tajao and rocks around, amaizing scenery.

Everybody goes to the restaurants at the beginning of the street, but people are missing out on the excellent food and view that La Gaviota offers. We arrived before sunset. We had an amazing Paella Marinera, a salad with shrimp and avocado, and for dessert, we ordered the local drink Barraquito. The food was incredibly tasty, and the view was unforgettable. 10 out of 10. Reasonable prices and a fair bill with no extra or hidden charges.

One of the best seafood restaurants I’ve ever been to!

From the moment you arrive, you’re invited to choose from a display of fresh seafood and fish. The four of us opted for sardines, calamari, and mussels, along with bread and mojo as a starter. For the main course, we shared a seafood paella, followed by tiramisu and crema catalana with espresso for dessert.

Every dish was exceptionally delicious—fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere cozy with charming maritime décor.

Overall, this restaurant is truly outstanding, offering excellent value for money. We would happily eat here again anytime.

Paella was nothing special, but good enough for the price. Fried calamari were realy tasty, but the portion is small for the price. Unfortunately I only have the photo of the bill since we waited for the food for quite some time an we were hungry 😆
