About

Restaurante El Rocas is a Tajao seafood lunch stop where the best order starts at the counter. Choose fish or shellfish, keep the cooking simple, and let the local potatoes and wine do their part. The outdoor terrace adds the ocean-breeze feeling that makes Tajao meals work.

The room and service feel more local than polished, which is part of the appeal. Still, the counter format needs attention: ask prices before choosing fish by weight, and arrive early or reserve if you do not want to queue. One regular reported weaker cooking on a later visit, so the safest expectation is fresh, simple seafood rather than perfection every time.

This was a hidden gem where the locals go. You eat the catch of the day. I have to say that the fish was delicious, we had so much to eat and it was value for money. I can’t even explain what kind of fish and shell fishes we had. I can tell you we had 7 different options and maybe even more. All I can say it’s a must go place if you are a lover of fish. The service was excellent. You get to choose your fish, and I believe this gets weighed. We selected what we wanted from the open ice fridge and they cooked straight away. I forgot to mention the grilled cheese, which had three selections of sauces, which were raspberry, fig and honey, I think. Which complemented the cheese. It was a Tuesday and around 14:00 or got really busy, which is a tell-tell sign that this place is excellent for lunch.

It was a very pleasant experience! We enjoyed so much our food. When you want to visit this village and having lunch here or in the area without reservation, please come just on time at 12:30pm other wise you have to queue to get a table. Or please reserve a table in advance. The waiters were very friendly, we don't wait too long to get our order, they have fresh seafood. We will back again! Thank you!

Great place for sea food and ambiance! Local people and (not-main-stream) tourists. Food was very good. Great that you can choose your only sea food, fish… at the counter. Only point of critique: no prices :-) so be careful. We paid 50 euro for a fish :-) but was very very tasting. Otherwise 6 euros for half a liter of great wine let you forget the “expensive fish” :-) . Enjoy the authentic Tenerife :-) !

We had lunch at a small cozy restaurant — simple and unpretentious, which is actually very typical and charming for the island. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing. We sat on the outdoor terrace, where a light ocean breeze made it pleasantly cool even during the heat of the day.

The prices were quite reasonable, and the food was really delicious. There was a great selection of fresh seafood and fish: you can choose everything by weight or by piece, and they will cook it for you either grilled or fried, depending on your preference.

Be sure to try the local potatoes with traditional sauces and, of course, pair everything with a nice glass of Spanish wine. A wonderful place for a calm and tasty dining experience 👌

Disappointing Decline at a Long-Time Favorite I’ve been a regular at this fish restaurant for years, always enjoying their fresh seafood and reliable quality. Unfortunately, this year has taken a noticeable downturn in the kitchen—I’m not sure if they changed chefs, but the execution is off. The fish was clearly grilled on an uncleaned griddle that left it tasting charred and unappetizing. It was a far cry from the standards I remember. Such a shame.
