About

El Capricho de Nicomedes is a seafood-first Santa Cruz restaurant, and the reviews are specific enough to justify the label. Guests name mussels marinara, steamed clams, red prawns, razor clams, large mejillones and Lanzarote white wine rather than just saying the menu has fish.

The tradeoff is the setting. Seating is outdoors, so wind, sun and weather can change the meal, and one visitor found the prices high for what it was. Choose it when shellfish is the point and you are happy with a simple terrace-style experience instead of a sheltered formal dining room.

Guest review summary

Commonly mentioned by visitors.

Shellfish is the point here: mussels marinara, steamed clams, red prawns and razor clams are named directly.

Freshness and fast service make it work as a simple seafood terrace.

Lanzarote white wine is remembered as a good match for the meal.

Outdoor-only seating leaves the meal exposed to wind and sun, and value opinions vary.

Probably some of the best seafood we ever had, I highly recommend this restaurant!!! Thank you to the team for a fabulous evening, we absolutely loved all the dishes we had and the beautiful white wine from Lanzarote. Atmosphere was lovely and service more than 10 out of 10, so good to see people passionate about what they do and wanted guests to have the best time. Will definitely come back next time in Santa Cruz, until then all the best and thank you once more 🙌🏼

Best gamba roja and navajas in years. So nice with the sea salt. Mejillones were big and yummy and the fruity wine delicious

Nice restaurant / taverna. Sea food served almost instantly. Fresh and tasty. Superb service. Standard prices, i.e. they do not differ from others, but really tasty food and friendly service compensate the costs ... and maybe that the standard is "local". You want six waiters who speak every spoken language and Chanel in the toilet, that's not here .... But if you want tasty and fresh food, nice service and atmosphere this is the place. I would highly recommend

Only outdoor seating, so at the mercy of the wind, and too little sun, or too much sun. Prices on the high side, and nothing really special. Service OK. Might suit some people, but we wouldn't go again.
