About

Cacio e Pepe is a popular Italian restaurant in Santa Cruz where the most useful order is not necessarily the obvious one: visitors repeatedly single out the light, crisp pinsa, cacio e pepe pasta and cannoli. The menu also has pizza, pasta and meat dishes, so it works well for a proper Italian meal rather than a quick slice.

Booking matters here. Recent visitors who arrived without one had to wait for a table, while the restaurant can be full at dinner. The food feedback is mostly strong, but the cheese in the carbonara is notably assertive and may not suit everyone. Choose it for a planned Italian lunch or dinner; keep the split service hours in mind.

Highly recommendation for pinsa and the cacio e pepe. Pinsa is light and crispy crust, really well made. It’s a great Italian restaurant with a really nice selection of dishes. The Italian waiter was super friendly, and the desserts were surprisingly good as well. Overall, a very enjoyable spot!

We were here two years ago and as we were visiting Tenerife again we decided to visit the restaurant to see if it’s still as good. From the start the filling from the service first seemed not to enthusiastic 🤷‍♂️ it was the attitude towards us. When we said will give it a go & ordered a COTTO E FUNGHI a🍄‍🟫 mushroom pizza and bottle of water,Then it seemed to change. We waited about 12 to 15 minutes for the Pizza. When the pizza did arrived it 👀 looked Fresh and with Plentiful Topping and looking great 👍 Tasted fantastic the Slice Ham 🐷 Cheese 🧀 & Mushrooms 🍄‍🟫 & the Tomate 🍅 base Sauce. We Could not fault the Pizza 🍕 well Done 👏. The price of the pizza was €15.00 and the Bottle of water €2.20 the total cost was €17.20. From us 5⭐️ for the Pizza,💯% Service 🫤. But if you want a very good pizza then you 🫵must go.

We did not reserve a table in advance, which turned out to be a mistake, as the restaurant was fully booked. We had to wait 40 minutes for a table.

Of the dishes we ordered, the pizza and pasta were the highlights. The aubergine with cheese was also very good. The starter with jamón, burrata, and sun-dried tomatoes, however, was not quite what we expected—the combination of flavors felt unusual.

For dessert, we had a cortado and cannoli, which were, of course, perfect.

Overall, we had a good experience dining here. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the staff was friendly and attentive.

There were, however, two aspects that didn’t fully meet our expectations—one related to the drinks and one to the food. While neither issue completely ruined the evening, they were noticeable enough for us to mention them.

That said, when we brought this to the staff’s attention, they responded quickly and made a genuine effort to resolve the situation, which we appreciated. They even offered to remake the dish, though we decided that wasn’t necessary.

All in all, it was a decent experience. It’s clear that they take customer feedback seriously and are willing to address any issues promptly. Still, we had quietly expected a bit more based on the reputation of the place.

Reading the other reviews I think we were just very unlucky with what we ordered. The carbonara had a really strong cheese that I didn't like, I'm sure it's so some people's taste but personally I thought it was way too strong. I've never had this issue with any other carbonara I've had in my life. Otherwise the atmosphere was nice and the service was great, I would still recommend this restaurant but wouldn't recommend the carbonara (or any of the other pastas that have the same cheese listed) to anyone who doesn't like strong cheeses. The lamb skewers were nice and it was a good portion size, however if would've been nice if there was a sauce and some vegetables served with it.
