About

Bodeguita Canaria is the kind of central Santa Cruz restaurant that makes most sense when you want Canarian food without turning lunch into a formal event. The strongest signals are simple local dishes, generous portions and quick service: rabbit, ropa vieja, papas arrugadas, tuna croquettes and fried calamari come up repeatedly in visitor notes.

It is not a polished fine-dining room, and that is part of the point. Expect a busy local restaurant, Spanish-first service and food that works best when you order the island dishes rather than chasing something delicate. One practical caveat from reviews is cleanliness consistency, so this is a good-value local stop rather than a special-occasion table.

Tasty beyond expectations. We ordered the excellent local rabbit dish, a very rich salmon salad and the canarian potatoes (as a starter). Everything was delicious, the portions big enough to skip the dinner today. The service was impeccable.

In a nut shell: Great local Canarian restaurant in the city center The restaurant is located in the city center of Santa Cruz. It’s fairly spacious and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is focused on Canarian cuisine and uses local products. It’s a place that locals really love, we actually received recommendations from three different local people. When we arrived, the restaurant was full, and more guests kept coming even as we were leaving. Service was quick and efficient. Not all staff members speak English, but it’s easy enough to manage. We ordered the Canarian salad, which was simple, fresh, and tasty. The tuna and spinach croquettes were excellent, and the fried calamari were the highlight of the meal. The only disappointment was the Canarian tortilla: a large portion, but a bit bland. Prices are very reasonable. If you are nearby, it is recommended

We came in a rainy day and they found a table for us. Thank you. The service is fine and quick. Our waiter explain in a good way the menu and the specialties of the house. We had a tortilla half and half...very good!!!! For main course a ropa vieja and costillar. Good, rustic, nothing to bring to heaven but genuine. A bit more attention to cleanliness would be appreciated
