About

Taberna Cantabra is worth booking when you want a tasting-menu style meal with a Cantabrian accent rather than another generic tapas table. Croquettes, mussels, padron peppers, boards, fish cakes, tuna tartare and mountain stew all appear in strong reviews, giving the menu enough surprise without losing its tavern feel.

The staff are a major part of the appeal: unusually friendly, attentive and proud of the food. The room is limited, so booking is not just a formality, especially for dinner. Use it for a planned meal with northern-Spanish character, not a spontaneous crawl between bars.

If you like dishes typically from the Cantabria Spanish mainland region then this is the place to be 😉. The restaurant has limited seating so reservations are recommended, especially for dinner. We enjoyed very much the starters: pimientos de padrón, alcachofas de la casa, croquetas de Gourmet and tigres (mejillones). Also the main dishes were delicious: papas huevos y chistorra, tartar atún and cocido montañés. All ‘seasoned’ with a bottle of Rioja (Ramon Bilbao). For dessert we went of course for the Polvito Cántabro. This place offers good value for money 🫰

MAKE SURE YOU BOOK SO YOU DON’T MISS OUT.

Just left Tenerife and the saddest part was not being able to eat here again until we come back.

Everything was as it was during the first time we came in 2024 (review below). Friendly and amazing service and food.

This time we tried the longostinas and Morcilla and the hilariously named dessert- the Prince Albert. All phenomenal.

We hope they read these amazing reviews, as they deserve all the positivity. We can’t wait to be back - Andy and Katie x

I couldn’t believe how efficient and how friendly the service was, considering it is just the two of them! Just really nice people that work hard to provide some of the most amazing food in Los Cristianos. Every table was reserved (which says a lot about the quality of the place) yet still managed to fit us in. Portions were plentiful and the food was delicious. I couldn’t recommend this place enough and so much so we ate two days in a row and would’ve hopefully have been a third, if it wasn’t closed. We will definitely be back. The only slight let down wasn’t actually to do with them - it was actually the bar across the road with the horrible karaoke. Padron peppers, Al

Best restaurant you can find around! Honestly, if you appreciate good food, give La Taberna Cántabra a chance. You will not regret it. Order one of the boards for a surprise! The fish cakes were also so fresh, delightful. Bread was scrumptious and the dessert to die for. Best of all? The service. Uncommonly pleasant and happy people making the whole experience a marvellous one. Thank you La Taberna Cántabra for a top class meal and a lovely memory.
