About

Playa de Los Cristianos is a town beach with a working harbour in the frame. That is its weakness if you want a postcard-natural bay, and its strength if you want everything close: calm water, pale sand, showers, cafes, shops, boat trips, ferry errands and a promenade that keeps the day simple.

Time needed:
1-3 hours
Entry fee:
Free beach access
Transport:
Easy by bus, taxi, ferry-side walk or resort promenade
Parking:
Town parking can be slow near the harbour
Best time:
Morning for calmer beach use and simpler family logistics
Weather:
Usually sheltered, but wind and harbour activity shape the mood
Beach style:
Easy town beach beside Los Cristianos harbour
Interesting fact:
Los Cristianos was one of south Tenerife's early tourism centres in the 1960s

The place also carries Tenerife's early tourism history; Los Cristianos was one of the first south-coast areas to receive visitors in the 1960s. Choose it for convenience and old-resort town life, not for silence.

Useful before you go

This is an easier south-coast stop, but food, shade and short transfers still make the day better.

Guest review summary

Commonly mentioned by visitors.

Families like the calm shallow water, clean sand, showers, toilets and smooth entry close to the town promenade.

Cafes, shops, restaurants and boat-trip infrastructure make the beach easy to use without a car.

It works well for a relaxed practical beach day when comfort matters more than wild scenery.

The ferry harbour backdrop reduces the natural-beach feeling for some visitors.

The area is crowded and tourist-heavy, with resort life all around.

Wind can still affect comfort even though the water is usually gentler than on exposed beaches.

A beach for relaxing, walking the promenade, having a drink and using nearby shops and restaurants.

Golden sand and clear water were positives, but the ferry harbour and wind reduced the atmosphere.

Easy to visit with English menus everywhere, but very tourist-heavy and windy on the beach.

Convenient, Not Wild

Los Cristianos is a working tourist town and ferry hub. The beach is useful because of that, not despite it.

Good For Slow Days

This is a beach for an easy swim, coffee, promenade and no complicated planning.

Harbour Is Part Of The Frame

Some visitors dislike the ferry context. If you want a cleaner beach horizon, choose another south beach.

Q&A (4)

Is Playa de Los Cristianos good with children?

Yes in normal conditions. Calm water, services and promenade access make it one of the easier town beaches.

Is the harbour a problem?

It depends on expectations. It makes the beach less scenic, but very convenient for boat trips, ferries and town services.

Is it crowded?

Often, especially in high season and central beach hours. Morning usually feels easier.

How is it different from Las Vistas?

Los Cristianos is more harbour-town and compact. Las Vistas is wider, more open and usually the better pure beach choice.
