La Arena works when you want the look of a volcanic beach without giving up showers, toilets, restaurants, public transport and assisted bathing facilities. It is one of Santiago del Teide's carefully managed beaches together with Los Guíos, with quality and environmental certifications behind the visitor setup. Still, this is not a lagoon: the shore can turn rough, the black sand gets hot, and the safest days are the ones when flags and lifeguards agree with your plan.
This is an easier south-coast stop, but food, shade and short transfers still make the day better.

This is the most beautiful volcanic beach I've ever seen. The sand contains olivine, a semi-precious greenish gemstone, which makes it sparkle incredibly under the sun. Truly a magical sight!

A lovely quiet local resort that is more traditional. Plenty of free parking and a pleasant coastal walk to the small promenade and what felt like a former harbour. A few bars and restaurants around the town square. For us worth a visit and a return.

What a great beach. Plenty of parking, safe guard is there regularly, they also keep the beach clean and filter sand. There are stunning views there. But there are also huge waves there often - fun to me, but might be tricky if you look for a calm beach.
