Mesa del Mar feels like a time capsule on the Tacoronte coast: a steep road down, oceanfront apartment blocks, dark sand nearby and seawater pools pressed against the Atlantic. This is a local summer coast stop, not a remote nature escape.
The practical appeal is clear when conditions behave: swim, walk the seafront, watch waves, eat nearby and disconnect from the upper town for a few hours. The hard part is access. Parking is tight, the descent is steep and rough sea can turn the pool into a viewing platform.

2025 This is a cool place to visit. A blast from the past. This is one of the first wave of tourism developed on the north of the island in the 60’s/70’s style. Road down is not for the faint hearted. Look out for the Tunnel to a wild beach. A must see if you’re nearby & have a ramble around. Quirky place. There is bus service down to it. PS You can walk along cost to a really interesting town called El Pris. Another interesting spot.

Fantastic natural swimming pool! It's less crowded and has a wooden sunbath place. There is little or no phone network, so it's a nice place to disconnect and enjoy the waves and nature.

Amazing natural pool with scary waves pouring in! 😁 There is a beautiful dark sand beach if you pass through the tunnel very near to the swimming pool. You can also find public toilettes there. I have not used them, I cannot say anything about the status…
Just a heads up: stay away from the Airbnb host called Canary Sunset Rentals & Apartments (or Canary sunset management & property— I do not know how they call themselves these days—) if you would like to stay nearby. We had a horrible experience with them 😱…

On the weekend parking can be quite difficult after a steep drive down. Wooden platforms make chilling out more comfortable. Waves are incredible and access into water is easy.

Mesa del Mar is less about spectacle and more about convenience: water, a beach nearby, and a local north-coast rhythm.

Not on busy days. The road down is steep and spaces near the seafront can fill quickly.
One pool is used year-round and another may be seasonal, but sea state still decides whether swimming feels sensible.
A dark-sand beach, seafront paths and local food options can make the stop work even without a long swim.
