Mirador del Emigrante

About
Mirador del Emigrante is a small stop with a bigger story than most roadside viewpoints. From the bend above Garachico, you see the town, the black lava coast, Roque de Garachico and the old port area that the 1706 eruption helped reshape. The bronze figure beside the view is the Monumento al Emigrante Canario, inaugurated in 1990 as a tribute to Canarian emigration.
- Time needed:
- 10-20 minutes
- Entry fee:
- Free open-air access
- Transport:
- Car is easiest; stop only where it is safe
- Parking:
- Very limited near a road bend
- Best time:
- Late afternoon when Garachico and the coast have softer light
- Weather:
- Cloud or haze can flatten the town-and-coast view
- Interesting fact:
- The emigrant monument was inaugurated in 1990
- Main tradeoff:
- Excellent quick view, awkward parking
Treat it as a pause before or after Garachico, not as a destination you drive across the island for. The view is easy; stopping safely is the real detail. If the pull-in is full or awkward, keep moving and use another Garachico viewpoint rather than turning the road bend into a parking problem.

Guest review summary
Commonly mentioned by visitors.
People value the compact view over Garachico, the lava coast, the natural pools and Roque de Garachico.
The emigrant monument adds a human story to what would otherwise be a simple photo stop.
The viewpoint works especially well as context before or after Garachico old town and El Caletón.
Parking is limited and awkward because the viewpoint sits close to a bend.
The stop is brief, so it is weak as a standalone detour.
Cloud, haze or rushed traffic can make the experience feel flatter than expected.

Located on a curve, so parking can be difficult, but the sea and village view are strong.

Good view of the beach and Garachico pools, with a warning that parking is limited and the walk down/up is hard.

The small cafe at the top made it an easy place to enjoy Garachico views.

A nice viewpoint close to the city.

A Context Stop
This viewpoint is strongest before you enter Garachico: it shows the coast, town and Roque in one frame.

Not A Long Visit
Ten minutes can be enough. The value is orientation, not a full activity.
