Casa Lercaro is the museum to choose when La Laguna's UNESCO streets look beautiful but you still want to know how the island actually worked. The house was begun by a Genoese merchant family after the conquest; today its rooms move through Tenerife's institutional, social, economic and cultural history from the 15th to the 20th century. Maps, documents, household objects and transport pieces give context to conquest, Atlantic trade, local elites and everyday life. Some sections rely heavily on written interpretation, but the patios, carved wood and historic rooms keep the visit grounded in a real house rather than a neutral gallery.
The museum is on Calle San Agustín, about five minutes on foot from both the cathedral and Plaza del Adelantado. Current hours are Monday–Saturday 09:00–19:00 and Sunday/holidays 10:00–17:00, with last entry 30 minutes before closing. General admission is €5; Friday and Saturday entry is free from 16:00 until closing, or from 14:00 when either day is a public holiday. Allow 60–90 minutes, then continue walking La Laguna rather than moving the car. Street parking nearby is difficult; public car parks, tram and bus are more sensible. Do not confuse this museum with Palacio Lercaro in La Orotava.

Do visit this museum if you have the chance, such interesting piece of history! And you can take a look at some amazing artifacts as well, like their carriages!

Nice place. Easy to faind. Is a underground parking not far away from the museum. The entrance to the museum is 5e nice price for a bit of history of tenerife some days is free so you can chek the website for it.

I really enjoyed my visit to this museum. It's located in an old mansion, the Casa Lercaro, which is beautiful and worth seeing all on its own.
The museum itself is a nice size—not too big, not too small—and gives you a really good overview of Tenerife’s history, from the 15th century right up to the modern day.
The exhibits are well-organized and easy to follow, covering everything from the island's social and economic development to its cultural traditions. I especially liked the sections that showed what life was like in the past, with furniture and objects from different eras. It’s a great way to understand how the island and its people have changed over time.
It's a perfect stop if you're already in La Laguna and want to learn more about the history of Tenerife without getting overwhelmed. Definitely recommend it!

A splendid local museum, it is very focused on regional history. Copies of documents denoting many important facts are displayed. The museum also contains information about the building, which is an exhibit on its own, and even traces the history of the family that owned it.

It’s a beautiful building and the staff were very helpful. The contents are presented without AV support and purely in Spanish, which is fine, but it did not live up to our hopes. Nevertheless, we had a fine time.

Best used before the walk
Casa Lercaro works better near the start of a La Laguna visit than at the end, because it gives the old town's houses and streets a clearer historical frame.
